The lines between work and life have been blurred—and in a good way. Creating a culture where work-life balance is key in today’s employee-centric world. Companies who are doing this sincerely and with real effort are noticed.  Providing financial education on personal finance can be part of that culture.

Fundamentals of Financial Wellness for the HRProfessional: Handling Potential Liabilities

Your company is sitting on a potential and VERY costly liability. It has to do with the right kind of financial education.

The financial education that your 401K plan sponsor is offering doesn’t cover all the bases.

ERISA (the Employee Retirement Income Security Act f 1974)law is clear: “When properly informed, educated and given reasonable choices, plan participants would make good decisions.” We all like good decisions, but what is “educated”?   It’s making sure that your employees are financially literate. That means that every person should be able to understand their own financial state and make informed decisions about their money.

This includes
·        cash-flow management
·        retirement
·        risk management.

The Government Accounting Office (GAO) has chimed in on this issue.  This is how IMPORTANT it is.

Our government wants all Americans able to
·        understand financial choices
·        plan for the future
·        spend wisely
·        manage the challenges that come with life events.

A financially literate person focuses on the job at hand.
They tend to perform at higher levels at work because they do not have toattend to personal financial matters while on the clock.

Also, the Supreme Court Rules Individual Retirement Plan Participants Can Sue Employers Over 401(k) Losses. Individually, not in a class action.

Employees are less likely sue their employer IF they have been given the opportunity to attend a financial education course, one that covers the objectives given by the GAO.

The Frank Dodd act is also very clear about what kind of organization should be delivering that course: a 501(c)3 non profit educational organization.

The Fundamentals of Financial Wellness course has been used by SHRM and HRCI members for over three decades as the foundational financial course for their employees.

It covers all the bullet points listed above.

It gives HR and employees the framework to discuss financial issues in a focused, productive way so that employees feel listened to and well cared for.

This enables HR professionals to know they are helping their employees in valuable and sustainable ways.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
